NEET [ National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test ]

As per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 as amended in 2018 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018, NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG), 2018 (NEET-UG-2018) will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

NEET Eligibility Criteria

NEET eligibility criteria have been revised in accordance with provisional orders issued by the Delhi Supreme Court on April 26, 2018. While candidates for the NIOS / Open Schools have been declared eligible, those higher than the upper limit of age seeking admission through NEET  will not be allowed under the Delhi court judgment.

LATEST – As per interim orders of the Delhi High Court passed on April 26, 2018, all NIOS/Open school candidates were declared eligible to appear for NEET.

Qualifying Exam 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in both Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized Board; candidates from NIOS Board are eligible – Gap year between Class 11 and 12 is permitted.
Minimum Age Requirement 17 years
Maximum Age Limit Applicable for NEET  as per the final judgment of Delhi High Court on May 11, 2018.
Qualifying Marks UR – 50%, OBC/SC/ST – 40%, PWD – 45% (minimum aggregate marks only for PCB subjects)
Maximum Attempts Previously applied cap on the number of attempts has been removed. Now, there is no limit on the permitted number of attempts age criteria permitting.
